North County Sprinter

The Sprinter is a diesel passenger rail line providing service between Escondido and Oceanside in northern San Diego County. Operated by the North County Transit District, Sprinter serves 15 stations on 22 miles of track.

Sprinter uses DMU rail cars manufactured by Siemens. The service charges a one-way fare of $2.00. Revenue service started in 2008, making Sprinter California’s newest light rail system.

Sprinter’s average weekday ridership as of Q3 2010 was 7,100.
